OILSKIN - Oilskin is cotton impregnated with an oil/wax finish to make it waterproof and windproof. The care of oilskin clothing is performed by simply hosing or sponging it down with cold clear water, (no detergents, no soaps, no dry-cleaning). Unlike other shell fabrics however, cotton oilskin must be maintained with periodic reproofings to ensure watertight performance. The jackets can be quickly and easily reproofed, by yourself, with a reproofing cream.
