I have been a diesel mechanic working with Cat equipment for nearly 20 years now. I also agree with the forestry worker as these are the toughest boots I have ever owned. They are very stiff but this also means they have extra support (more than others). They are good for climbing any type of equipment.

I am in the forestry business and regularly go bush whacking in the back forty. These are absolutely the best work boot for field work that I've ever had. I've worked in the forest for over 25 years now. I own 2 pairs and rotate them. They require some maintenance being leather and are not waterproof, but the ocassional coat of brown shoe polish and mink oil has them ready to go like new. There is not a work boot with better support. Make sure you wear a wool sock because of the leather liner. Some people find them narrow in the toe and I can understand that, but if they feel OK off the shelf, you won't be disappointed once they are broke in.
